In a world of automated production and molecular manufacturing, many physical goods need not be permanently owned. They can be generated, customized, used, repaired, recycled, and returned to material streams. The legal object shifts from exclusive domination of things to participation in a production-and-access system. Property remains relevant for personal identity, privacy, artistic creation, bodily autonomy, and human-made works, but the legal center of gravity moves away from hoarding essential goods.

This shift is especially important for housing, mobility, tools, devices, energy, and information. Where the system can provide reliable access, ownership becomes less necessary as a survival strategy. Classical contract law assumes parties bargain under conditions of unequal need.
